My Five Favourite Films

My 5 favourite films

Rush

Image result Rush is one of my favourite films, this is because I find it very interesting because it is based on the true story of two formula one racing drivers Niki Lauda and James Hunt. It is action filled but also contains plenty of drama to make it altogether very engaging. I feel that Chris Hemsworth portrays his character of James Hunt a British world champion formula one driver extremely well and captures his carefree attitude to life perfectly. It is in my top five because I feel that it portrays the whole story of their rivalry brilliantly as well as making the film dramatic and entertaining.

Psycho

The reason that psycho is in my top 5 favourite films is that it uses concepts of thriller, suspense and drama all in one creating the perfect film. Although it was released in 1960 this classic film is still just as thrilling and unexpected today. This film is based around the character Marion Crane (Janet Leigh) as she runs away after stealing $40,000 and goes to stay at the Bates Motel for the night. During her stay a lot of peculiar events start to unfold. This infamous film is also the home to the most classic horror movie sound effect which is still just as chilling today.

Apollo 13

I enjoy watching Apollo 13 because like Rush it is based on a true story of three astronauts Jim Lovell (Tom Hanks) Fred Haise (Bill Paxton) and Jack Swigert ( Kevin Bacon) and their mission to land on the moon, however things go very wrong when an oxygen tank explodes and it is unknown wether they will arrive back home safely. I feel like this movie portrays what happened brilliantly and includes the famous quote of  "Houston we have a problem". I love how dramatic this film is and how it keeps you on the edge of you seat even if you know what the outcome of is.

Grease

Image resultThis is a bit of a different film to the last three because I wanted to include a bit of variety. I love watching grease because I feel like you can watch it over and over again and it never gets old. It is in my top 5 because I have been watching it for years and I still love it, I feel like it is the perfect combination of singing, dancing and acting. My favourite character from grease is Rizzo and my favourite songs are the song she sings there are worse things i could do and grease lighting. What I like most about this film is how it is quite up beat and happy but has some good story lines to it which the songs perfectly reflect and so do the actors Danny (John Travolta) and Sandy (Olivia Newton John).

Clueless

Image resultThis film is also different to the others and it is in my top 5 because this is the type of film I can watch in any mood and feel happy and content. This film follows the story of Cher (Alicia Silverstone) and her best friend Dionne (Stacey Dash) who are both shallow, rich teenagers, as they try to do a makeover on a new girl in school Tai (Brittany Murphy). After finishing this makeover Cher decides to makeover her own life following teasing from her ex stepbrother Josh (Paul Rudd). This film is one I could watch everyday and not get sick of it, I feel like, in my opinion sometimes a romantic comedy is what you need when                                 you want to watch a lighthearted film.
